The 1100EVO SP takes the whole Hypermotard concept to a new level of extreme. Higher ground clearance, higher spec suspension, higher bars and even less weight makes the SP track-ready for action and impressive enough to wear the Ducati Corse logo.
When we first launched the Hypermotard project we knew that there would be extreme riders out there who wanted more – we just didn't realize there would be so many! With a racing heritage built on direct rider feed-back, and two years of Hypermotard category in our Italian-based Ducati Desmo Challenge series, we’ve built a reputation for listening to owners and the new SP spec is the result.
Extreme riders all wanted the same thing from the Hypermotard: More power, more ground clearance, more control in extreme situations, more detail and less weight. Now, our engineers have ticked all the boxes with a model intended to perform on the track as well as the street.
The Desmodue Evoluzione combines reduced weight and increased power to make it the perfect engine for the Hypermotard 1100EVO. New crankcases, a lighter crankshaft assembly and a new magnesium alternator cover combine with the use of lightweight rare-earth magnets in the alternator assembly to achieve the staggering weight reduction of 5.3kg (11.7lb). The clutch and alternator covers are finished in carbon grey for the 1100EVO and in gold for the 1100EVO SP.
A redesigned cylinder head with improved inlet port shape for optimum flow also combines a modified combustion chamber shape for improved burn efficiency. This improved efficiency is the result of a higher compression ratio and a new single spark per cylinder ignition, now managed by high-speed Siemens electronics.
Constant investment in quality by design, advanced materials and engineering techniques has enabled a distance between service intervals of 12,000km (7,500 miles) making Ducati ownership even more enjoyable than ever.
The chassis of the Hypermotard 1100 evo SP features top of the line components. The Ohlins rear shock and Marzocchi long-travel, fully adjustable forks handle the suspension, while forged monobloc Brembo calipers handle braking activities easily. The wheels are lightweight Marchesini, and the Hypermotard sports a single sided swingarm for incredibly easy maintenance as well as superior looks.
Aesthetically, the SP model is equipped with carbon fork slider guards, front and rear mudguards, belt covers and rear panels. The SP is available in both Red with White accents, and in White with Red accents.
